I was brought up Church of England, up to Christmas a few years ago when I watched my dad die over 3 days from some particularly aggressive cancer. The vicar appeared a few days later and consoled us with "Your dad really sounded like a true Christian man", to which I replied, "so why was he taken from us 3 days before Christmas and while he was still so young?"

The lack of a satisfactory reply has left me more interested in Dawkins than deities.

    • oh dear, I sorry to heat that. :(
No one can give you any reasons like that, I hope you find some peace, sir.

    • Thanks man, I was reacting really to the 'trendy' comments above - it's not just fashion that changes thinking...MrT
    • I think point is that the vicar was consoling you. There is no logic to be found in death only truth.

    • MrT, sorry to hear that. I think you questioning your CofE upbringing is justified.RW
