If he was hit with a rubber ball, then hell yeah he deserved it. Something about waving your arms like a jackass in front of armed policemen just says stupid to me. They don't know if he's planning on blowing himself up. So they shoot him with a rubber pellet and knock him unconscious.
Obviously, if the police shot and killed him, that's another story. There's probably a better way to go about it, unless Marshall law type shit is going on down there (I don't know). If you think of it from the policeman's perspective, who knows if he's carrying a gun underneath that jacket of his? Who knows if he's unarmed? His hands are definitely being hidden by a jacket or something. I think the policeman probably thought the guy was making a move and shot him. A better option may have been to shoot him in the leg or something but they've probably been going through crazy shit all day and him having a gun probably didn't seem too out of the ordinary. To be honest, if I was in that situation I probably would have done the same thing...him or me.
