deathboy correctly reiterated the need to break the direct link between the Tucson shootings and Sarah Palin's gunsight Congressional map (even though Palin removed it from her Facebook page). He suggested that Palin did not pull the trigger, and thus she should not be held responsible.
I have to ask then, what would one say to Glenn Beck if one of the many death threats that 78 year-old professor Frances Piven has been receiving for months comes is carried out? For those not familiar with the story, please see below:
Spotlight From Glenn Beck Brings a CUNY Professor Threats

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/01/2…On his daily radio and television shows, Glenn Beck has elevated once-obscure conservative thinkers onto best-seller lists. Recently, he has elevated a 78-year-old liberal academic to celebrity of a different sort, in a way that some say is endangering her life.
And while Bill O'Reilly did not pull the trigger the day that abortion doctor George Tiller was murdered in a church in 2009, would the fact that he was discussed for 28 days on O'Reilly's show before Tiller's death have anything to do with it?
Yes, we have freedom of speech in this country, and it's a wonderful thing. But that freedom does not allow people to call in bomb threats or yell "fire" in a crowded theater. What irks me a bit is the fact that pundits on all sides seem to think that their very loud, pervasive voices have no impact, and that people who are criminally insane and harboring violent tendncies are not inspired by the things people say.
Connecting the dots does not mean that people are responsible for harm. And what happened in Tucson does not mean that Palin should be brought up on charges.
But what if it was discovered that Jared Laughner was a huge fan of Palin's and in his twisted mind, took her gunsight map as a direct order?
