Turn off Open GL Enhanced stuff in performance unless you got an after market card. Shit will run like photoshop 5.5. Have more than 6gb of ram, 16gb is optimal. Yes, agree, and SSD for your OS and local apps are a must as well as a secondary regular 7200 rpm or above scratch drive.
Ram is key for CS5. It'll run 9x fast w/ 16gb of ram vs 4gb of ram.

- doesnt it depend on how much ram you are using? 6gb seems to be enough. hell illy+photoshop+ind = less then 700mb total + OS/browser/email/uti... is only 2.17gb used, leaving plenty for a lot of your everyday stuffdeathboy
