My old roommate and I had a debate about one of the episodes. In the episode with "Bring Your Daughter to Work Day" the two cops come in to question Michael about Kitty's disappearance. One of the cops claims that their daughters are missing and he runs off to find them, while the other questions Michael. Much later we discover that the two cops are gay and trying to adopt or conceive a child via surrogate. (Great joke there: partners/partners.)

So the question is: why did the cops say they had daughters?

    Possible answers:

    1. They don't want suspects knowing they're a couple.

    2. They used the "missing daughter" story as a clever ruse to search the premises without a warrant. (Although at this point I believe they have Kitty already, so why the search?)

    3. Had the writers simply "made a huge mistake?" There aren't many in AD, I'd be surprised if this was overlooked.
