I saw the press conference for this - what struck me was how incredibly versatile Lady Gaga is. She's selling direct to the consumer - a high-rent version of a QVC presenter.
Despite the fact that this is a blatantly commercial stunt - from which, a lot of cynicism that can obviously be drawn; this is actually a very (dare I say it) postmodern phenomenon.
In our commercial world, she's managing to become something that's entirely relevant to current society.
She treads an incredibly fine line; wavering between sell-out and auteur.
