    OH, at first I thought you meant those 80s things that went across the front of the screen (well, telly back then).

    Do you have control over environmental lighting, or are you in someone else's office?

    Only times I've ever got really bad glare-eye have been when the monitor's competing against brighter, more comprehensive light sources, like overhead fluorescents or large windows (been staring at computer screens for 24 years).

    Try changing layout, by swapping moving screen or desk around or, failing that, petitioning for better conditions.

    Personally, I imagine I'd get more confused from the stark transitions between Guarded Monitor-dark and unguarded office-light - better (imo) to maintain a better overall environment.
