Had an awesome day today about 3 hours from Chicago at a place called Chestnut Mt. Pretty nice terrain park, good progression features and the day started out perfect - blue skies, sun, mid 30s and not that many people there. (I've got the week off of work).
Question for some of you: How many of you 30+ boarders are able to slide rails and boxes and how long did it take you to work up to that? I'm gradually progressing to more narrow rails, and it's fun, but I have to say, thank God for padded protective pants (thermals with knee, hip, groin and tailbone pads) and wrist guards and a helmet. That shit is saving my life. I fell a couple times today and hit my head and somewhat hard-packed snow and just thought "damn, best thing I could have bought this year." I did fall pretty hard today on the approach to a narrow down-rail. I was about 8 inches too far to the right and somehow just fell straight forward over the rail landing right on my chest on it. Took the wind out of me.
Alas, I am having a blast and I'm so thankful that I'm enjoying snowboarding again.
- meh parks, can't be bothered. i'm selective with my days riding, save it for the deep stuff.horton
