I don't know what the big deal is about lists. My wife and I only really get to shop at Christmas and for birthdays so when they roll around we can never remember all of the things we wanted to buy throughout the year. She gives me a list and I give her one. For instance I wanted Call of Duty when it came out but I didn't have the cash so my wife is getting it for me for Christmas. We mostly use the lists as a guideline of stuff we know each other wants but then buy a few surprises so that it's still interesting. The money is all coming from the same place with us though so it might be different.
