i assume you are making a .ps file from the print menu and then using acrobat to create the pdf.
and yea, that is a pain in the nads.
i have taken screenshots before and sent them off. they look alright if you shrink them and bump the dpi up in PS. not a great idea if you want to be sure your colors are right, but ok for layout proofs n such.
