    While I understand that the legal definition of "assault" could be applied here, I really don't see (from the story anyways) how you or your g/f were actually assaulted. The bouncer did put her hands on your g/f, but that is what they're paid to do. It might be different if they shoved her down, or physically carried you out of the place, etc

    Also take into account that the bouncer who started the situation was likely unaware of the whole scene. I'm sure in that profession, they look at everyone as a drunk, careless, potentially out of control threat to the bar.

    I'm on your side in that the security staff was wrong in how they handled the situation, but I'm trying to look at it from a legal perspective. Just doesn't seem like the proof is there to warrant a case.

    Was your g/f injured? Are either of you emotionally scarred? What damage was caused to you by the incident? Those are the questions the courts will ask.
