Not sure what all you can do. They detained you wrongfully, but you did agree to go with them. In my opinion, it comes down to the fact that the place to invoke your rights would have been at the door when you were attempting to leave, as you said you wished you'd done.
Unless they kept you in the cell for several hours, waiting to talk to security / the police, I don't think you have much legal ground to stand on.
