honestly, any supplements you purchase will be utterly pointless unless you're sticking to a strict routine that includes constant exercise and a good, clean diet.
i suggest getting into a rhythm before dropping a bunch of cash on protein powders and pills. if you really feel the need, get a quality whey protein (one that's low in refined carbohydrates). for muscle recovery, get glutamine, but go for the powder instead of the pills as it's more easily absorbed. L-arginine is also a good idea for several reasons (do a quick search to see why).
the best time for sugar intake is with your shake/meal immediately following your workout (within one hour). http://www.intense-workout.com/p…
drink plenty of water (a half gallon to a gallon a day) and make sure you get enough quality sleep as this is when your body repairs itself.
good luck!
