Say what you will, I can't help but respect Phil Collins as a no bullshit kind of pop musician. By that I mean he's probably the only guy with multiple platinum selling records who is bald, not especially good looking, and essentially looks like a middle manager at Staples or something.
Sure, Lady Gaga may write her own songs, but she does seem to feel the need to flash her tits and ass like she needs the help. With Phil Collins, on the other hand, you can pretty much be sure his successes were all the result of his musical abilities.
Can you imagine a Phil Collins making it today? They'd probably find some guy to front for him like Milli Vanilli.
