swollen,
If you're in a company like mine, the bosses' greatest creative effort in the last year was picking out the color of his minivan. And god-dammit, he'll pick out the next hire. The creative is the last to have a decision here. While I'm busy designing, the others are positioning themselves to take up my political airspace. Taking responsibility for 'creative planning' etc. Although I was interviewed by everyone in the company, I have had no say in future hirings. I'm not supposed to be that smart. Your portfolio is strong and you've proved yourself. Let's just hope that they don't don't dump a completely useless designer in your lap.
I don't think they are replacing you. I'd make a statement to the boss like, "Who ever you hire, I'll make the best of it, but unless you let me in on the process and at least ask a couple questions, I can't guarantee the quality of the work."
