lol...HTML5 isn't advertising bro. What is this site built with? HTML4.

HTML5 is just the next version of HTML. It's kind of like if we were all using CS4 and then CS5's coming out and you guys declare its just a gimmick.

    • what is the difference between html4 and 5. a few tags that have more support for js.deathboy
    • those tags without js knowledge are pointless. its a js vs as thing as multimedia/animation is concerned.deathboy
    • Read up on what HTML5 actually is and get back to us.ukit
    • html5 is really no big deal. html5 supports flash wow. its the mobile market mainly and apple trying to capitalize on it.deathboy
    • jsut enlighten me. save me sometime. i didnt knwo html5 plays video and does animationdeathboy
    • show me a html5 animation? no JS compared to a AS animation. html5 takes palce of the plugin.deathboy
    • not fully supported yet so its kind of a plugin in its own right. but still look at flash vs js and why flash trumped in the pastdeathboy
    • Here's an example:
      http://mugtug.com/sk…
      ukit
    • http://www.craftymin…ukit
    • Maybe more advanced example of the first one:
      http://mugtug.com/da…
      ukit
    • But you are only focused on the rich media side of things...ukit
    • The last example for instance uses local storage which is like a browser based databaseukit
    • There is also geolocation, microdata, web workers, lots of stuff that has nothing to do with JS or animation.ukit
    • Then there's the more fundamental aspect which is that HTML5 introduces semantic tagsukit
    • No more <div class="header"> instead you will just use <header>ukit
    • Imagine how much standardization that will enable in terms of theming, mashups, etcukit
    • A lot of people also overlook the behind the scenes aspect of what they are doingukit
    • thats fine i said addressing multimedia/animationdeathboy
    • HTML5 is meant to standardize how browsers render HTML, which is not a small task.ukit
    • and still examples rely heavily on jsdeathboy
    • Well you said it was advertising...which is sillyukit
    • But sure, it relies on JS for animation. So?ukit
    • i get that but as far as AS is involved in mainly compares to JSdeathboy
    • its the advertising that distorts the comaprison. its not html5 vs flash its js vs asdeathboy
    • Point is a lot of people put forward this view that HTML5 is a direct equivalent of Flash which it isn't...it's much larger than thatukit
    • yes theres the render issue without plugin. hence mobile marketsdeathboy
    • Secondly, that it's somehow hyped up by Apple? BSukit
    • its not hyped up by apple? really? dont forget apple tries to hinder flash to push quicktime.deathboy
    • hell whne did it get a lot of press? jobs made an attack and it worked. reason went out the window. time to side updeathboy
    • All Jobs did was write one blog post...that's it.ukit
    • Big deal, he's entitled to his opinion.ukit
    • he is. but the truth remains its more js vs as. and his reaosnign for such a thing was to improve his already 4x oil company profit marginsdeathboy
    • profit margin. he saw his stronghold on us mobile market and said tiem to try to push thing his waydeathboy
    • So? What are you, a communist?ukit
    • not at all. i ahve no problem with profit. its a freemarket system. jsut disappointing. liek heroin profits. 34 is too long im donedeathboy
