"Today western governments tend to support the negative trends in capitalism (b/c governments are mostly run by big capitalist players).. thus leading to a confusion in society that 'capitalism' or 'freedom' has failed.."
Kind of a strange statement because this of course is the logical result of completely unregulated capitalism.
If today's capitalism doesn't work, where's the example you can point to that does? This is typical utopian thinking - the ideology has flaws everywhere I see it, but if only we did x, y and z...it would all be perfect.
But the fact is it's never been demonstrated the utopian ideal of a number of companies competing really holds in a capitalist system. Instead, more often than not a handful of companies eventually gain monopoly control and also control of the political process.
Factors contributing to this would be - lack of a progressive tax system, lack of social benefits, and no government intervention in the economy, all things libertarians argue against. Look no further than the fact that in American elections currently, the "libertarian"/Tea Party/ Republican side is being funded by anonymous billionaires.
- nicely said.. couldn't agree more..that's why capitalism fails.. it has to be constantly regulated and it's not.Boz
