okay, for constructive criticism, consider what the REAL designers said.
This is a very weak logo animation. It's a simple alpha matte of Video Copilot Riot Gear smoke footage to reveal the logo.
You can REALLY animate the logo by breaking it out into layers. The title you can obviously animate a number of ways, so no need to explain that one.
You have the seal of approval, with a guy throwing up a westside sign (btw, just not really sure about that, design-wise), and the rays of light inside the seal, behind the guy.
That's already three layers you can animate independently. From scaling up and spinning in the seal, revealing the guy inside the seal by animating him up inside the seal or whatever (again, stiiiiiiill not too sure about that, design-wise), to using something like a matte choker to reveal the rays of light behind him. And that's the simplest version. You can get more complex than that, like if you break out the stars inside the seal and animate them, for example.
The animation you posted just isn't motion graphic design as much as it is compositing/video effects honestly*, so it really isn't best suited for the forum. It looks like some of the work in your reel is a bit more exploratory than this logo animation, so I don't know why you need to be told how to make it better.
*I know it's technially still motion graphic design, but that's a pretty ambiguous/flexible term anyway, so suck my butt
- sidenote: if you are actually going to animate the logo itself, rather than reveal it with video footage, then I might consider removing the video alpha reveal entirely—might be too incongruent.mcmillions
