Aside form this being an incredibly timelinable, already more than suitably covered subject here, you can do this with a helluva lot of foods.
Whether a foodstuff rots is as much to do with atmospheric conditions and airborne contams than what's in the food itself - I've seen more than my fair share of rotting horror food comprising McDonalds etc, back in my student days.
I doubt Sally Davies would be quite so critical of Beef Jerky or unleavened bread after x months.
