I think it shows a bold new approach. The black helvetica is iconic in itself and a confident step to talk to consumers in a new voice, popularised across the world in many successful brands and graphic applications, certainly the right choice. The blue square and it's subtle gradient is a nod at gap's younger internet savy customers, "no longer is gap stuck in the 80's", they are saying. Moving forward i think we'll see ground breaking gap apps where this new brand will really shine through. Take a deep breath, don't be afraid of change, embrace it.
