and a quick word of advice to anyone who would like to try this:
make sure you get powerbook parts that were made for powerbooks of the same processor speed. i was quite amazed at how many revisions were made from a 400 to a 550.although, many parts, such as cd/dvd rom, hard drives, memory and lcd's should always be the same.
keyboard, logic boards, heat sink assembly, etc could potentially be different.
