    If you present the logo on its own without context, all they have to go on are surface impressions, and that's when you get "I don't like purple" and uselessly vague comments. Tell them why you chose purple (before you show them), make it a solid reason based on association with the colour, position in the market, etc etc etc, and "I don't like purple" becomes "I don't know what the fuck I'm talking about" to everyone else in the room.
