hrm, I want to defend it because I actually quite like the AIRBUS embossed text, but then I realise it's Gotham, so will likely end up looking dated, and then I see that Wrath of Khan like R.
I could forgive both though - Gotham's a great font, and Wrath of Khan wasn't bad for an ST movie.
The marbles are clearly abortions, and break brand continuity when the logoform for Eurocopter is thoughtlessly dropped in.
However, it's the EADS re-rendering itself that fucks everything up for me - the ligaturing of the A & D look like something I clumsily doodled on the back of my pencil case when I was a young'un - but why that choice of ligature? Why have they physically connected the concepts of Air & Defence - but not Space? The rebranding explicitly limits the ambition and reach of the organisation - the domain of 'Space' presumably being the zenith (literally and figuratively) of their aspirations - but they've left it in the cold, unlinked to the more mundane bread and butter domains?
Weak.
