I think 24" is fine, can never argue with more screen space but 24" plus 22" is what I got now and seems to work great.
Of course I guess the ideal would be to have two Cinema Displays but not making the investment right now:) At my last job they bought me some Dell monitors that went for around a grand, can't remember the exact model, but to be honest they just don't offer the same experience.
