Talisker and Lagavulin are my faves, but its down to taste.

The map above illustrates the key flavours, usually given to the whisky by method and area.

    Delicates are light, easy drinking
Rich means more sugary tatses, usually from sherry barrels
Light means fresh and gamey flavours - like the smell in a forest after rain (fresh)
Smoky comes from the smoke of burning peat and from the source water if the stream runs through peated fields - expect slightly medicinal / aniseed flavours. A good example is laphroaig which is smoky but not rich, whereas Lagavulin is smoky and rich (sweet).

    have fun!

    • thanks, I ended up googling it but also nice to have in one place.sseo
    • no worries matefoz
    • Props on Lagavulin. That stuff is exactly like licking a mossy rock on the side of the road in scotland. My chest hairs grew an inch after a sip.nthkl
    • inch after one sip.nthkl
