@Boz, I give you props for learning a few different approaches to things, so many people are just locked into one language/platform. Still, your criticisms are strange..."HTML5/JS runs like shit and that's the end of it." That's objective, insightful criticism, really??:) Surely it's not so open and shut, considering the degree of JS performance gains we've seen in browsers over the past decade.

Your next complaint, browser compatibility, is also a bit ridiculous. You talk like it's an inherent deficiency of HTML5, like it should have immediately worked on all browsers flawlessly. Uh, the point is that these are new features that need to be implemented by browser makers. Most of which have done so at a pretty fast rate. Is it HTML5's fault that Microsoft is so shitty at implementing standards?

Bottom line, you say you'll welcome HTML5 once it provides as good an experience as Flash. Well, how the hell is it supposed to get to that point without experiments like this along the way? Here we have someone who built something, not as a commercial work, but to push the state of the art forward ever so slightly...and the response from you guys is anger.

And it will take 5-10 years??? Based on what?

    • JS is extremely inefficient overall. Put too many objects and it kills the browser.Boz
    • Bing about browsers. It's not HTML5 "fault" but that's one of the things we will be dealing with at least in the next year or two.Just to get proper browsers.Boz
    • two, just to get browsers that support HTML5 and all the new things properly. And even then they will be different.Boz
    • It will take 5-10 years for browsers to mature to support all that new technology. They still haven't even finalized HTMl5.Boz
    • HTML5, nor we have IDEs or building tools or libraries. Tell me how long it took for JQuery and JS frameworks you use today, to get out there?Boz
    • to get out there and available to everything. It takes years for this. It takes a year or two to just write good tools and good IDEs.Boz
    • IDEs in general.Boz
