    @Pupsipu

    I find it hilarious that you take an example of one bad engine or whatever it is. I really never heard of Flixel but I know a ton of other ones that are far more efficient than any JS engine (which are all for the most part a joke when compared to Flash)..

    I code in both Javascript and Flash and I'm even messing with HTML5 and everything so far is a joke and more experimental than anything.

    JS is AS1 and it's the end of the discussions. Flash player is hardware accelerated now and we still need to wait for browsers to do hardware acceleration and some won't do it ever. And JS is not even comparable to AS3. AS3 is such an evolved ECMA Script based language but has so many cool things it's not even funny.

    Building stuff in Flash/AS3 is like working with clay. I don't even think about code and whether or not it will work in browsers or whatever, I just make things happen so easily it's a joy.

    HTMl5/JS stuff runs like shit and that's the end of it. JS was never meant to be fast and that's what everyone is using to write HTML5 apps.

    I'm not gonna argue anymore.. When HTML5 provides us better, faster and less CPU heavy experience that's supported by all browsers the same and looks better than Flash we can talk about it being awesome. Until then there's really nothing to discuss.

    Every single HTML5 example has a notice that it won't work with all browsers, it will be heavier on CPU etc. That's all we need to know at this point. Oh awesome, we don't need a plugin! That means absolutely nothing to me when the experience is shit.

    I'm not gonna lie, HTML5 is great for what it does and tons better than HTML4. CSS3 is also great and fills much needed voids. Canvas is good idea and WebGL will bring some cool things, but we are talking 5-10 years certainly not next year. And we need the tools, we need browsers to support hardware acceleration.

    I am not exclusively Flash guy at all.. As I said, if HTML5 with WebGL or whatever else, provides me the tools and ability to make same things as I can do in Flash now and building something in a 2-3 weeks as opposed to 2 months I'm all for it.

    I'm not tied to Adobe by umbilical cord.

    And btw, I do code in Objective C, Javascript/Jquery, AS3, PHP in addition to doing creative work and even 3d stuff.. I'm pretty sure I'm more objective than a lot of people posting about this shit.

    • Flixel is not a "bad" engine. It's a framework for making games in this style and there is not much to be efficient about.Pupsipu
