New Don is a nice man .. not the narcissist who we grew to know. At first I thought the change was taking place too quickly .. and smoothly, but who's to say it wouldn't I guess; with a death acting as a classic watershed moment. He's been thinking back over his past gradually ever since Betty .. so there has been quite a build-up.
I think conceptually, I liked the fact that Don was character with very particular traits - and the way he's been portrayed as a bit of an enigma.
I've been brought up to think of personality as something that's quite inflexible .. while a person's character often looks different in the light and in amongst the shadows, I think a person's basic psychological make-up is there for good (save for a huge life altering event / mental breakdown or physical ailment).
Maybe I've got quite a cynical view regarding human capacity to change. The progression of Don's character seems far more optimistic.
Like the new Don too though.
