What update did we get in Flash CS5 that was so earth-shaking? CS4? Sure, there were feature additions etc but it felt much more like the sluggish incremental improvements you see with, well, other Adobe software.
If they are capable of pushing the ball forward to such a large degree, now would be the time. What are they waiting for exactly?
Meanwhile, this is what you are seeing in the development versions of Google Chrome and so on with HTML5...
Check out the realtime sound visualization in 3D in the second one. Granted these aren't as slick as if a designer made them but the capabilities are improving rapidly considering this stuff hasn't been around for long.
