The only problem I see on this is that any half respected hacker around will be able to 'bug' your computer, either for money or for fun.
I believe that you can access most of the features of a laptop remotely so -in theory- somebody could be staring at your (or jerking off with you) at this very moment.
Apps like little snitch are quite handy, as you can stop all the outbound info in you laptop. my first reaction when I installed the damn thing was 'geeee, see the amount of crap that ALL my software is given away'
However, none of our lives is THAT freaking important to others, ain't it?
Said that, 10 years ago I had loads of fun sending trojans which ran BackOrifice to friends and colleagues.
