was in Italiy for a month in april/may
Found Venice/Florence to be too touristy. I know obviously, but should have avoided them altogether. Loved Rome, stayed in the Trastevere and just zipped all around the city finding the best cheap restaurants and getting drunk.
I'd say rent a car and cruise around the countryside, and spend a week in rome drinking. that's what I did anyways.
