My uncle (Wally Hilgenberg) also died of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis in 2008. there are many creditable organizations to help the research and contribute to the awareness. Patrick O'Brien Foundation is not one of them. in fact the organization contributes nothing ALS. donations go to New York Foundation for the Arts
