    I agree. It should all be a local issue. But look, Obama put his foot in it by making comment at the Ramadan dinner he hosted. Then he tried to backtrack the next day. That made it national. Every news outlet picked it up. Every party has spoken on it. Most are all opposed. What I can't understand is why you think this is a topic generated by Conservatives, specifically the Republicans. Read the paper, look at the news, listen to radio. Ask someone (a new yorker even) who's not a yes man to your political views what they think. Then ask them what party affiliation they have.

    It all matters. Everything. We are the country we are for exactly this. Voices have weight. You comment on DC affairs I'm sure. Maybe how DC voters have limited or no representation. How's that make you feel? Ever voice an opinion on that? It's a DC thing right?
