i have a business insurance policy for my photo studio - it's basically the same as renter's insurance. i asked my agent about gear coverage outside the studio, and she said she'd build it in. so i am not sure if i have "photographer's insurance" per se. i think i have some sort of hybrid-monster business insurance that happens to cover my equipment as well.
it costs me slightly over $500/year - not too bad, considering that it covers maybe $10k of equipment. i got it through american family insurance - the same agent covers my car insurance and my renter's insurance, so she might be treating me as a special case, rather than as just one of many photographers getting the same sort of photography insurance.
