Anyway, back to politics - why do we let these guys touch anything to do with money? While this is a Republican example, I'm sure this kind of in depth thinking and grasp of details is endemic across the political spectrum.
John Thune (R), junior senator from South Dakota has a plan to reduce the deficit to zero in ten years:
"Appearing on Fox News, Thune and host Greta Van Susteren discussed the bill’s call for the creation of a Joint Committee on Deficit Reduction, tasked with reducing the deficit 10 percent year over year.
“It would be required to find 10% in savings—10% of the deficit in savings every budget cycle,” Thune said.“So in 10 years we wouldn’t have a deficit?” van Sustern asked.
“Theoretically, yes,” Thune replied. "
Um, "theoretically" no genius. It's called Zeno's paradox, look it up. It would take you about 60 years to reduce it to the levels you claim it would do it in ten.
Jesus, this is high school math and these morons control trillions of dollars?
