Reminds me of my great grandma who realised she had breast cancer but decided it was her time and didn't even visit a Doctor.
She lived by herself and one day fell over breaking her hip. She just lay on the floor for two days until a friend knocked on the door. She told them to break the window as she was having a little difficulty moving. Understatement of the year.
That was when the rest of the family finally found out she had cancer. She never once complained and on the night she passed she was joking, and us telling the family history as if she didn't have a care in the world. About 2am she said, "sorry I'm keep you all up, but I'm not really sleepy."
The nurses told us she had never complained of pain even though her whole body was riddled with cancer. My dad always called her a tough old bird.
