  what being an artist says to the opposite sex, i would think, is that they've got their shit so figured out they have resources available to use on non-essential things such as beatuty.

  a man struggling to providee shelter for himself, for example, clearly does not have his shit together and cannot provide for others, let alone himself. the best mate is a self-actualized provider.

  i would not go so far as to say that art is created to assist procreation, but i would say it might help.
