I had to call 911 yesterday afternoon...
My friend and I had just parked in front of her apartment when we saw these two tiny tiny little babies - a little boy and a little girl... the girl couldn't have been more than 3 and the boy had only been walking for some time... tiny tiny little ones...)...
... and they were all alone in the middle of the street... literally walking down the middle of the street.
We ran over to them as they were heading toward the busy traffic roads and quickly picked them both up. Thing is - there was a family right near them outside loading their kids and crap up into a van and they didn't even give a second thought that these two babies were wandering around in the middle of their road -- apathy at it's finest.
They were so young that they couldn't even speak... and they were obviously scared... ... we wandered around a few minutes trying to locate their parents... no avail - so I called 911...
... as we were waiting for the cops - some lady walking down the street yells at me that I'm holding her son... but not even angry... just 'matter of factly'... ... I believed her as the little boy began reaching for her and really wanted to go to her...
... So I called 911 back and told them what happened... the operator told me that this is a rather common occurrence... ... little babies found alone wandering through the neighborhood... poor little things - cutest kids too... *sigh
