Chromatic Aberration. Depends on your lens/body sensor combo. A d90 with a 50mm 1.4 will see it as where a D3 with a 24-70mm 2.8 will not. Some bodies offer chromatic aberration reduction. And most of the upper echelon nikkor lenses are treated with Nano Crystal anti-reflection coating. This helps to reduce ghosting. A UV filter is a quick fix that can help to minimize environmental haze between you and your subject.
