i like the old site a lot. have you thought about maybe just revamping the old site? maybe making a move into standards and writing it in valid xhtml/css - without tables...stuff like that.
the old site seems like a well thought out, planned and timeless design. it is pleasing and comprehensive...why re-invent the wheel? focus on making the old one current and a better product.
but that's just my opinion. nice work all around, no matter what you decide.
