    My old laptop HD failed last year. I was recommended by a computer fixer upper that a quick fix can be to put the drive in a freezer for a few hours.

    This may not be exactly what you're after, and probably isn't the best solution, but it gave my Hard drive a new lease of life long enough to recover everything from it. It lasted about 6 months before it died again.

    • ...and while you're at it, grab some ice cubes and fix me a drink will you pleaseraf
    • Haha. Genuinely though it did work for me. Depends on the type of failure though.orrinward
