elektro: I think the multiplayer fun is mostly in free roam. You can posse up and battle other people in a bunch of random missions/battles. Doing so ranks you up and unlocks outfits and horses and all that. I wasn't expecting much, but it ended up being pretty fun once I understood what the fuck was going on. There's also the other multiplayer battles you can just jump into as well (not in free roam).
That being said, the multiplayer designers could have clarified and cleaned up that whole situation. There's lots of potential, and it's mostly there, but I think it's a turn-off for most users.
