The video xcarlx posted is probably the most 'insightful' (for lack of better vocabulary) tidbit I've come across through this fiasco.
In case you missed it first time around in this thread, it's...
imo, if there's any single 'thing' to blame here, it's governmental legislation, oversight and regulation, or an apparent lack thereof.
This is a non-partisan statement (I'm a Brit, after all) - both Republicans and Democrats are to blame, from what I've gleaned. Republicans promulgated 'Drill Baby Drill', Obama conceded to the right and in doing so failed to address problems in your Interior Department.
We're not far out of the complicity cycle either - we drive the fucker.
