If the images were desaturated and regained _some_ saturation when the mouse hovers over them .. it might add an element of interaction to the experience, suggesting that the viewer will complete the picture (i.e. it will be personal / their own experience).
At the moment I think your images are too highly saturated, which seems tacky imo.
- Also - are those pictures real (or stock photos?) -> they seem like stock photos on first glance.********
- No one is going to care about seeing 'artists impressions' of the area .. make it real - postpone the site till after yr trip even, and take pics yrself ;)********
