At the moment I can see that you're using shapes in your proposed logos for 'Shape' - and I suppose that could be called a concept of kinds. (Although, perhaps it's not a very interesting concept - because it's overly straightforward).
If you could run with a more deeply considered concept, and communicate that via your logo - I don't think you'd need to worry so much about all the naysayers who are telling you your style is outdated. Perhaps style becomes a critical focal-point in the absence of substance?
When I think of shape, I think the concept is closer to 'refinement' (to find the best fit). I think it suggests an iterative process and it's related to work-flow. Maybe, when something is 'shaped' it's crafted...
(... i.e you could easily have a few good brainstorming sessions - if you haven't already - and integrate the result into your designs.)
