• friday i had jury duty. finished timothy leary's book "your brain is god" while waiting around. found it interesting but extremely pedestrian, almost like it was just a boiled down and simplified compilation of his other works.
• started on another of his books called "the psychedelic experience", which is based on the tibetan book of the dead.
• saturday i did a bit of traveling and picked up a sheet of acid; first time i'd seen one in its complete form. it's made from a grateful dead album cover.
• on the way back i stopped at bevmo and bought a bottle of "st. georges absinthe verte", easily the best absinthe i've ever tasted. it's much lighter and herbaceous than what i'm used to, and sweet enough that it doesn't even require sugar. i louched it with ice for an afternoon pick-me-up.
• re-watched this documentary about the tibetan book of the dead, narrated by leonard cohen. love this film.
• sunday i found i had received tickets to both burning man AND lightning in a bottle in the mail. figured i oughtta start getting ready so i dragged out my teepee, shook the playa dust off it and mended a ten-foot rip that happened during a dust storm last year. also made some leather patches and drank fat tires while i sewed them onto stress points all around. got a sunburn for the first time since i was ten :(
