  The way the system works in this country is on electoral wards so even in the eventuality where the Lib Dems got 40% of the vote and the tories and Labour 30% each

  Of the say 620 seats that would mean roughly

  Labour: 300 seats
  Tories: 250 Seats
  Lib Dems: 170 Seats

  So a lib Dem vote isnt wasted, its that the system is heavily weighted against them and towards Urban areas which traditionally vote socialist
