I live in Burlington, but I commute on the Go. Which sounds horrible... but I love the train most days. I use the time to sketch, discover Albums (cos you can listen to one in full!) and have time to myself. With a two year old at home I also catch up on lost sleep!
Burlington (south of the highway) is beautiful and surprisingly affordable. And I love it there. I'd say go for it. Not hearing traffic at nighttime improves your life tenfold!
