You give people to much credit if you think it is because of money that we do the things we do. It doesn't matter what form of currency is being used people will always try to have more than what the guy next to him has, it used to be a bigger cave or more goats now it's a bigger house and perkier tits.
Let's say we did get rid of money and decided that some committee would decide what your standard of living would be according to your job. I know right away there are a lot of people out there that would rank a designers job at the same level as a secretary where others would place near accountant. Which one are you willing to accept. To me it seems a system like that would create a lot of people shooting for the higher ranked jobs and being forced to take lower level jobs when the positions run out and in turn create a lot of anger and apathy. At least now you can find a way to make almost any job more profitable. It all comes down to what you do with your share.
