@twokids I don't see how they are "controlling the internet", Apple is clearly supporting web standards and the living proof of that is the Webkit project, a fork Apple did of kHTML that turned out to be so decent that Google is also using it for Chrome, Chrome OS and their Android browser. Nokia and BlackBerry are using it or going to start using it too.
They have been adding support for the HTML5 features for quite some time already, Safari was the first browser to feature database local storage for example.
I know Flash is ubiquitous but it's not a standard, and Apple doesn't want to control the internet, in fact, Adobe with Flash and Microsoft with Silverlight are actually ways of trying to tie people up with closed proprietary plug-ins.
